      UCAS has started to admit international students since 2004. Currently there are 1063 international students from 82 countries and regions around the world, among which 749 are doctoral students, ranking first in China.

      Based on the high-level research advantages and high-level human resources of CAS, UCAS is a "big university" that has four campuses in Beijing, five education centers outside Beijing and more than 110 CAS institutes throughout China. At various CAS institutes, there are 5 National Laboratories, 82 State Key Laboratories, 196 CAS Key Laboratories, 42 National Engineering Research Centers (Laboratories) and numerous national frontier scientific research projects, providing a solid and formidable scientific practice platform for student's education.

      UCAS has a highly qualified faculty team consisting of teachers and supervisors from UCAS faculties and CAS institutes and a first-class scientific research environment for students to fulfill scientific research. At present, UCAS has 14469 academic supervisors, including 295 CAS members and 6995 doctoral supervisors. It has a prominent teaching and research environment in mathematics, physics, chemistry, astronomy, earth science and biology in natural science as well as mechanics, materials, energy, electron and communication, automatic control and computers in engineering. For now, UCAS offers 146 doctoral programs, 170 master programs delivered in Chinese and 2 master programs delivered in English for international students.

      Applicants of UCAS can apply for Chinese Government Scholarship, CAS-TWAS President's Fellowship Programme, Beijing Government Scholarship and UCAS Scholarship for International Students, etc. In 2015, 80% of the students who are pursing degrees at UCAS were funded by the above mentioned scholarships and other financial support from international organizations, foreign government and local universities.

      UCAS implements a centralized accommodation management and logistic support system towards international students. It provides on-campus accommodation to the international students admitted by CAS institutes in Beijing, UCAS faculties and the ones admitted by CAS institutes from other areas who are attending centralized training courses in Beijing. Currently, the centralized training courses are offered in UCAS Zhongguancun campus. This campus is next to over 10 CAS institutes like Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, Institute of Physics and more than 10 higher education institutions as Tsinghua University, Peking University, etc. It is also equipped by advanced teaching equipments and logistic support system. All these create a good learning and living environment for international students.

They are from well-known art troupes including the National Theatre, the Central National Orchestra and the Folk Art Troupe of the Beijing Opera & Dancing Theatre, as well as art academies including the Central Conservatory of Music, Beijing Dance Academy and the National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts. UCAS has also set up joint art education programs with the above academies in order to enhance the students’ taste for arts and enrich their life on campus.

      • December 9 Chorus Contests are designed and organized to integrate patriotic education with the school’s development through various events on important commemoration days in order to enhance students’ sense of responsibility and mission. The activities include the 90th anniversary of the CPC’s founding, chorus contests in memory of the patriotic students’ movement in December 9, 1935, and meetings commemorating the 1911 revolution that toppled China’s last feudal government and the 9•18 Incident in 1931 that marked the Japanese occupation of Northeast China.

      • Volunteer services mainly focus on environmental protection, community service, volunteer teaching, helping the aged and disabled, supporting large-scale events such as 2008 Olympic Games, thus making volunteer work an important supplement to our social welfare system.
