XU Tao

Prof. Xu Tao is Vice president and professor of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), also a principal investigator at Institute of Biophysics, CASmember of CAS. He received his PhD in 1996 from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. From 1996 to 2000, he undertook postdoctoral work first with Erwin Neher at the Max-Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry and then with Bertil Hille at the University of Washington. Since 2000, he has led his research group in Huazhong University of Science and Technology, then in the Institute of Biophysics, CAS, focusing on the molecular determinant and regulation of vesicle exocytosis, translocation of GLUT4 storage vesicle; gating mechanism of Ca2+ release-activated Ca2+ channel gating, modulation and its stoichiometry; development of super-resolution correlative light-electron microscopy.
