Prof. Yue-Liang Wu, a well-known theoretical physicist, the member of Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS), TWAS and International Eurasian Academy of Sciences. He currently serves as the Academic Vice-President of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), the Director of International Centre for Theoretical Physics Asia-Pacific (ICTP-AP, UNESCO), the Director of Academic Science Committee of Institute of Theoretical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The chief scientist of the Taiji Program in Space for Gravitational Wave Detection in China.
Yue-Liang Wu graduated from Nanjing University in 1982 and received his Ph.D. at the Institute of Theoretical Physics, CAS, (ITP-CAS), in 1987. From 1987 to 1993, he joined the Dortmund University and Mainz University in Germany. From 1993 to 1996, he joined the Carnegie-Mellon University and Ohio-State University in USA. Since 1996, he has worked at the Institute of Theoretical Physics, CAS (ITP-CAS). He served as the director of the High Energy Physics Division of the ITP-CAS from 1998 to 2003, the deputy director of the ITP-CAS from 2003 to 2007 and the director of the ITP-CAS from 2007 to 2012. Then he was appointed to serve as vice president and executive vice president of CAS from 2012 to 2019. He also served as the founding director of the CAS Key Laboratory and State Key Laboratory of Theoretical Physics, and the founding director of the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics China (KITPC) at the CAS.
Prof. Wu’s research area concerns elementary particle physics and quantum field theory (QFT), gravitational quantum field theory (GQFT) and unification theory as well as quantum cosmophysics. His research interests include: hyperunified field theory in hyper-spacetime within the framework of GQFT, gravitational gauge-geometry duality with gravifield as gauge-type bi-covariant vector field and goldstone boson in biframe spacetime, symmetry-preserving and infinity-free loop regularization and renormalization of QFT, dark matter and dark energy, charge conjugate and parity symmetry (CP) violation, gauge family symmetry and neutrino physics, low energy dynamics of quantum chromodynamics (QCD) and quark confinement, chiral dynamics and heavy quark effective field theory, topological quantum field theory. His work on CP violation and quark-lepton flavor physics won the State Natural Science Award of China.
Prof. Wu’s research works got support from the National Science Fund of China as Outstanding Young Scientists. He was the chief scientist of the national ‘973 Project' on “Theoretical and Pre-experimental Studies of Dark Matter and Dark Energy”. He was rewarded as the Distinguished Scholar conferred by the Ministry of Sciences and Technology, Ministry of Education, etc, of P.R. China. He initiated and organized a numerous of international and national conferences and workshops, some of which has become the series conference.
