Feng Lisheng is the director and doctoral supervisor of the Institute for History of Science and Technology & Ancient Texts, Tsinghua University. He is also a member of the academic committee of the Institute for the History of Natural Sciences, CAS.
Brief Introduction:
The Tsinghua Multiplication Matrix is the oldest documents of the Chinese mathematics. While filling the vacuum in the pre-Qin-Dynasty mathematics history, its discovery provides precious material for the studies of the history of mathematics. As a scholar who used to be sorting out and studying the Matrix, Prof. Feng is going to analyze the structure and function of the Matrix and reveal its significance in the history of mathematics through a comparative analysis of the Matrix and related ancient texts.
